Self Hypnosis and NLP Techniques to Eliminate Stress, Anxiety and Fears

What if you were able to change the way you respond to an old fear or anxiety? Or change the way you respond to something coming up in your life that you feel uncertain about, fearful, anxious?

Fear and Anxiety is an internal response to the uncertainty of a past memory (something old) that keeps coming up in your mind and body or of a future situation that is unclear or uncertain in your thinking (something not experienced yet).

Our unconscious mind works with the belief that if you can imagine something you can build it into a reality.  As a Clinical Hypnotherapist, I also believe if you imagine something long enough you can take it on board as being true.

There are many empowering ways to change the way you experience a past memory or imagine a future experience.  Hypnosis is a fast way of communicating directly with your unconscious mind and internally building powerful inner resources and wisdom that then bubble up into the conscious mind and change the way you think about a past, present or future situation. Ericksonian Hypnosis can assist you in tapping into your own inner resources and build inner strength, confidence and a new way of responding to the old and the potential future.

Let’s look at how you can work with a Self-Hypnosis design to build change.

Set up a Scale of reference

e.g. if you imagined the event now and felt it as if it was real, with a scale being 10 is the worst you can feel, notice the number your scale is on.  Then follow below

Questions to Ask Yourself With an Old Memory or a Future Memory

  • Is this feeling real?
    • If you look around and focus on where you are and what your doing now, you should notice it’s a memory not a real experience in the moment of now or its your imagination of what could be, not what is real right now.
  • What tells you it’s a memory or your imagination and not real now?
    • If you look around you can note where you are, notice what tells you your safe.  Notice the environment you are in now.

Things to do to change how you feel

  1. Write a list of all your old memories or your future concerns and then bust them with how empowered you are now, what resources you have now that would change how you dealt with this now, what you would do differently or how you could respond.  Then notice how safe you are in your current environment.
  2. An NLP overlapping design.

Imagine the past or future situation you are concerned about.  See it and feel it the way you can experience those fears and uncertainties now (as strong as you can, the more associated with the feelings the better).

Imagine a cartoon character that is funny to you e.g. Sponge Bob and see this character in bright colours on top of the images of your memory or future imagination.  You can add more than one character, stack them on top of the picture of the fear or uncertainty.

Now turn on your favourite music, pick one song and imagine you are singing it in your mind as you look at the image with the cartoon character on top of the image.  At the same time bring in a calm and comforting colour, e.g. green and imagine the whole seen is covered in green.

Layering the images this way will change the way you feel about them now.

Ask yourself where the dial is now? Ask yourself How you feel NOW…..

One way of clearing fears and negative thinking is to:

  1. Imagine your fear, all the imagines and feelings that go with it.
  2. Imagine a beautiful gold or other coloured energy coming down from the creator and into your body and mind and as it washes through you in wraps up all the feelings and thoughts into a bubble of energy.
  3. Imagine the bubble of energy leaving your body and place it in a Perspex box in front of you.
  4. Then bring your awareness back to where you are, note the things around you, and remind yourself your safe, take a slow deep breath and focus on something you like in front of you, bring your thinking to what is real in the now
